🚧 Project at a Glance

Cyclists in Singapore can look forward to a brand-new link across the Marina Channel. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will start building a dedicated pedestrian and cycling bridge in Q1 2026, with completion targeted for 2029.

This bridge will connect Marina Centre (near Suntec and Millenia Walk) directly to Bay East Garden at Gardens by the Bay — finally eliminating the long, inconvenient detour around the Marina Barrage.

🚴 Shorter, Smoother, Safer Rides

  • Travel time cut from over an hour to just minutes — no more looping through busy roads and traffic-heavy junctions just to get from Marina Centre to Bay East.
  • Direct link to scenic routes like the Bay East waterfront, Marina Barrage, East Coast Park, and the upcoming Founders’ Memorial.
  • Avoids sharing space with high-speed vehicles — fully separated from road traffic for a safer, more relaxed ride.

🌉 Cyclist-Friendly Design

  • Wide deck to comfortably accommodate two-way cycling and pedestrian flow.
  • Gentle gradients suitable for all fitness levels, including casual riders and bike commuters.
  • Lighting for night rides, so you can enjoy Marina Bay’s skyline safely after dark.
  • Built to handle event buggies and shuttles — perfect for cycling events and races.

📍 Better Connections for the Cycling Network

  • Creates a new strategic link in the Park Connector Network (PCN), joining the city centre directly to the eastern coastal routes.
  • Opens up loop rides that combine Marina Bay, East Coast Park, and Kallang Basin without backtracking.
  • Will make it easier for cyclists to join mass events like marathons, cycling festivals, and even the Singapore Grand Prix weekend activities.

🛠️ Construction with Cyclists in Mind

  • During works, URA will provide alternative PCN routes to minimise disruption.
  • Landscaping and tree cover along the bridge will make it more comfortable for daytime cycling.
  • Designed in collaboration with agencies like Sport Singapore and National Parks Board — ensuring it meets the needs of the cycling community.

🚴 Why This Bridge is a Win for Cyclists

  1. Faster rides – Skip the detours and hit your destination in record time.
  2. Safer journeys – No need to mix with heavy traffic.
  3. More scenic options – Direct access to Bay East’s waterfront views.
  4. Stronger cycling network – A crucial missing link for city–east connections.
  5. All-hours usability – Lighting and gentle slopes make it a 24/7-friendly route.

When it opens in 2029, the Marina Centre–Bay East Bridge will be more than just a crossing — it will be one of Singapore’s most iconic cycling routes, giving riders a faster, safer, and more scenic way to explore the city and coast.
